Manchester to Lake District Tour
Our Manchester to Lake District Tour is the easiest way of exploring the Lake District in a day. Start your trip with a drive into the mountainous English countryside, passing dramatic scenery along the way. The first stop is Castlerigg, an ancient stone circle that is thousands of years old. Our expert tour guide will bring the stones to life with stories about its history and the mystery surrounding the site. From here we’ll visit some of the typical villages of the Lake District including Grasmere, where the English poet William Wordsworth once lived. We’ll drive into the mountains, through the “Little Switzerland” route, and along the most beautiful scenic roads in the UK. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at Lake Windermere for a traditional pub lunch and a boat cruise along the lake, followed by a visit to the town of Windermere, capital of the Lake District.

- Drive into the Lake District mountains, where we’ll do a loop of the famous “Little Switzerland” – one of the greatest driving roads in the UK with breathtaking views of the countryside
- Pass by the town of Ambleside, famous for its 17th Century bridge house
- Head to Lake Windermere, with an optional cruise along the lake
- Stop at a local nearby pub for a bite to eat or to taste one of the local beers (not included)Return to Manchester, arriving at approx. 18:45
