Welcome to Stonehenge, the world’s most famous Neolithic site! Our tour from London to Southampton Cruise Terminal will include a stop of 90-120 minutes.
The prehistoric stone circles at Stonehenge are considered to be the most architecturally sophisticated in the world. They were built over 5,000 years ago, and have been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will be able to walk in a full circle around the stones (from behind a rope). An audioguide and lots of information panels explain how these stones were discovered and offer theories about how they were built.
One of the biggest mysteries that surround Stonehenge is why they were built? Whilst nobody is quite sure, there are plenty of theories going around. Some believe it’s an ancient burial site, whilst others claim it to be an ancient Druid temple.
Our Stonehenge tour from London to Southampton also includes entrance to the reconstructed Neolithic Village and Visitors Centre. See what life was like during Neolithic times, with reconstructed houses furbished with replica axes, pottery and other artefacts. And explore the wealth of archaeological finds from the area in the state-of-the-art visitor’s centre.
After visiting Stonehenge, we continue onto Southampton Cruise Terminal.
