The rooms are simply furnished, reflecting the way she would have known them. You can see her small writing table where she worked each morning. Personal items, such as her letters and jewellery, bring her closer. It is a gentle, inspiring place that connects you to her life and stories.
- See Steventon, where Jane Austen was born and lived from 1775 to 1801 and where she wrote the early drafts of Pride & Prejudice, Northanger Abbey and Sense & Sensibility. While the rectory where she lived was demolished, the 12th Century church where the Austens were rectors and Jane worshipped still stands.
- Visit the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath, where Jane Austen lived between 1801 and 1806. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the beautiful Georgian spa town, which dates back to Roman times. Much of Northanger Abbey is set in Bath, and the novel vividly depicts the social life, manners, and atmosphere of the town. There is an enormous amount to see in Bath, which your guide will bring to life, including an option to visit The Jane Austen Centre. The city is quite unchanged since Jane Austen’s time.
- See Winchester, the medieval city where Jane Austen died at the age of 41. Your guide will take you to the great cathedral, where she is buried in the north aisle and where there is also a memorial plaque and stained glass window in her honour.
- Visit Lacock, a picturesque village that was used as a filming location for Pride & Prejudice, in the Cotswolds countryside near Bath.

- Visit Burghley House, the setting of Lady Catherine de Bourgh’s home Rosings Park and one of England’s great Elizabethan houses.
- Drive into Derbyshire and the Peak District, an area of outstanding natural beauty, which was captured in the film.
- Visit Chatsworth House, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. This spectacular house and garden provided the setting for Mr Darcy’s Pemberley.
- See Haddon Hall, an elegant stately home where the Lampton Inn scenes were filmed.
