Our Downton Abbey tour from Southampton to London and Heathrow visits the village that was used in and inspired the making of the Downton Abbey TV series. Visit the real-life village of Downton, as well as some of the nearby quintessentially English villages, and enjoy lunch in a traditional English pub. Led by an experienced guide, the tour will pick up from Southampton Port and will drop off at Heathrow Airport and Central London hotels.

Highlights:

• The tour begins at Bampton, which is the real-life version of the village of Downton. Here, you’ll get to see many of the iconic locations that feature in the series, such as the post office, church, town square, and cottage hospital.
• From here, we’ll drive through the English countryside, along the narrow lanes and past the sweeping green hills, towards Burford. This is one of the most iconic villages in the region, with typical sandstone coloured buildings and thatched-roofed cottages.
• Enjoy lunch in a 15th Century tavern, complete with stone floors and wood fires, which is sure to put you in the Downton Abbey mood!
• After lunch, we head to a beautiful town called Stow-on-the-Wold. The town was once an important centre for the wool trade, and today is known for its pretty shops, narrow cobbled streets and 16th Century Church. You’ll have free time to explore Stow-on-the-Wold.
• From here, we drive towards Central London, stopping at Heathrow Airport along the way.

• 08:30: Depart Southampton Port
• 11:00-11:45: Visit Bampton
• 12:00-13:30: Visit Burford (with lunch)
• 13:45-14:45: Visit Stow-on-the-Wold
• 16:45-17.30: Drop-off at Heathrow Airport & Hotels
• 18:00-18:30: Drop-off at Central London hotels & train stations
• 18:45-19.00: Drop-off at Victoria Train Station (from here there are trains & buses to Gatwick, Stansted & Luton Airports)

• Most ships arrive at Southampton Cruise Terminal between 05:00-06:00. Disembarkation starts at around 07:00.
• Your driver will meet you at the exit of the terminal building at 08:00
• Departure from Southampton Port at 08:30
• If your ship is late, we will wait (applicable only to the listed ships we service)
