Cogges – Yew Tree Farm
We begin the day by meeting you at your hotel or accommodation in Central London. We’ll drive out of the city and into the English countryside heading to the first stop on our Downton Abbey and Highclere Castle day trip!
Welcome to Cogges Farm! Cogges featured as Yew Tree Farm in the TV show and is a beautifully preserved manor farm of historical importance. In series 4 & 5, it was used in many farming scenes, was the home of Mr Drewe and the location where Lady Edith’s illegitimate daughter was brought up. In series 6, it was home to Mr Mason. See the manor house, kitchens and grounds.
Bampton – Downton Abbey
We continue onto Bampton, the real-life location of the fictional village of Downton that featured in all series of the TV show. Enjoy a guided tour of this picture-postcard village. You’ll have the chance to see iconic Downton Abbey sites including the exteriors of the former home of Matthew Crawley, the 12th Century church, Downton hospital and more! We’ll even see Churchgate house, which was used for external shots of Isabel Crawley’s home.
Highclere Castle – Downton Abbey

Highclere Castle, the location of Downton Abbey
We’ll spend the afternoon at Highclere Castle, the real-life location of Downton Abbey! This is the home of The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon and is only open on selected dates throughout the year.
The castle dates back to the 17th Century. See the library and great hall which are used for many important family gatherings. Head upstairs for a look at Lady Grantham’s, Sybil’s, Edith’s and Mary’s bedrooms. And walk back downstairs to tour the salon and dining room. You’ll also have time to explore the magnificent gardens, as well as have lunch.
At the end of your visit to Highclere Castle, we return to Central London.
