Day 1
The Square, Shrewsbury
Visit the ancient town of Stratford-upon-Avon, where Willaim Shakespeare was born, with its many buildings related to Shakespeare’s early life. Also, see Anne Hathaways thatched roof cottage.
Travel to the bustling market town of Shrewsbury, the birthplace of Charles Dickens, with time to explore the town.
Day 2:
The magnificent Conwy Castle
Venture into North Wales and be inspired by the stunning views of Snowdonia.
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Conwy Castle, a medieval fortress, and enjoy stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean from its battlements.
Day 3:
We drive into the Peak District along winding roads offering scenic views of one of the most beautiful regions in England.
High up in the Peak District we visit the elegant spa town of Buxton, which dates back to Roman times.
The highlight of the day is a visit to the stately home of Chatsworth House, the ancestral home of the Dukes of Devonshire. One of England’s largest and most impressive stately homes, spend time admiring the magnificent furnishings, artwork, and sculpture, as well as the extensive gardens.
Day 4
Venture into the Yorkshire Dales, famed for its rugged landscapes, wildlife, and heritage.
In the morning, visit the spa town of Ripon, driving through remote valleys and outstanding scenery.
Spend the afternoon in the ancient city of York. Discover its heritage, which dates back to Viking and Roman times. Admire the impressive York Minster Cathedral and ancient city walls and explore the narrow lanes of the historic city center known as the Shambles with its many local shops, pubs, and cafes.
Day 5:
Spend the morning with free time to further explore York before we set off into the Yorkshire Moors, with its rugged moorlands, which has been the backdrop for many BBC TV series and films.
Spend time in the pretty seaside town of Whitby before continuing onto Robin Hood Bay. a small picturesque fishing village with winding lanes and narrow alleys that was the home of Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula.
Day 6:
Journey into the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its breathtaking lakes and sublime countryside, one of the pearls of England.
Stop in the market town of Keswick to admire its stone buildings and local shops. Visit the Castlerigg standing stones, built over five thousand years ago.
Day 7:
Hawkshead, one of the picturesque villages in the Lake District visited on this tour
Spend the day exploring more of The Lake District.
Visit Ullswater, considered the most beautiful lake in England, and enjoy a short walk to the breathtaking waterfall at Aira.
Enjoy lunch by Lake Windermere, followed by a relaxing cruise along the lake, admiring the picturesque landscapes.
See Grassmere, linked to the poet William Wordsworth, and Dove Cottage, the home of Beatrix Potter.
Day 8:
Leave England behind as you drive along the Heartside Pass, which has spectacular mountain views of Scotland.
See Hadrian’s Wall, built by the Romans to keep out ‘the barbarians from the north.’
Visit the haunting abbey ruins at Jedburgh, which was used as a filming location for many movies, including Outlander.
Arrive at the Scottish capital of Edinburgh in the early evening.
