The King and I, London Tickets
The King and I is considered one of the greatest musicals of all time.
Set in the mystical Siam of the 1860s, the musical tells the story of an English widow, Anna Leonowens (played by Helen George), who becomes the governess to the children of the King of Siam (played by Darren Lee). As Anna and the King clash over cultural differences, they develop a relationship that grows into mutual respect and understanding. The musical explores themes of contrasting cultures, love, and the struggle between tradition and modernity in a changing world.
Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s score includes some of the greatest songs of all time, including ‘Getting to Know You’, ‘Whistle a Happy Tune’, ‘Hello Young Lovers and ‘Shall We Dance’.
This Broadway production features 50 West End and Broadway performers alongside a full-scale orchestra. This multi-award-winning production stars Darren Lee from the Broadway show and Helen George (best known for her role in the BBC’s Call the Midwife.)
