Forget the Emmies, forget the Oscars. Google Street View has awarded The Shambles in York the title of most picturesque street in Britain! Contrary to the name, the Shambles was actually a medieval meat market more than 600 years ago. It got its name from the timber framed buildings that lined both sides of the narrow street, at least two dozen of which were butchers shops. Today, the Shambles is home to a range of independent stores, luxury boutique shops and trendy restaurants and cafe’s.
